SRS Supports American Academy of Family Physicians' Partners For Patients Program

SRS Offers Physicians an Incremental First Step Toward Electronic Medical Records (EMRs)

MONTVALE, NJ, August 5, 2004 - Embracing efforts to provide physicians with affordable access to robust electronic medical record (EMR) solutions, SRS Software, Inc. has become a supporter of the American Academy of Family Physicians' (AAFP) Partners for Patients initiative. SRS endorses the tenets of the Partners for Patients program: affordability, compatibility, interoperability and data stewardship.

"At the AAFP, we're very serious about helping to make electronic health records (EHRs) and other health information technology more affordable and standardized for our members and other physicians' practices," said David C. Kibbe, MD, director of the AAFP Center for Health Information Technology. "We greatly appreciate the support from SRS Software for a principle-based, industry-wide approach to these goals. SRS Software is a long-time leader in this field and is again demonstrating its leadership."

SRS Software has assumed a politically agnostic approach in its R&D efforts, pledging to work towards a national industry standard utilizing open architecture with full integration capabilities. SRS' suite of products offers user friendly solutions structured as an incremental first step to EMRs, giving healthcare providers 24/7 electronic access to all charted patient material.

"Consistent with the objectives of the AAFP Partners for Patients initiative, SRS products provide physicians with a viable vehicle that transitions their offices to EMRs quickly and cost effectively," explains SRS President Evan Steele, whose New Jersey-based firm provides computerized medical record and document management solutions for physician practices of all sizes and specialties nationwide. "SRS is a simple, immediate solution that does not require expensive technology or time-consuming data entry that forces doctors to change the way they practice medicine."

The SRS Freedom Chart Manager product suite captures, converts and electronically files print-based information from patient encounters, such as physician handwritten or transcribed chart notes, patient superbills, insurance cards, referral forms and operative and lab reports. In addition to its core capabilities, Freedom Chart Manager includes prescription, messaging, document workflow and lab interface modules. Microsoft Windows®-based, Freedom Chart Manager leverages cutting-edge barcode technology to integrate and organize patient information into digital charts which can be conveniently accessed and shared electronically 24/7 from home or office.
